The event brought together businesses and professionals to discuss the challenges of attracting, developing and retaining talent in an environment shaped by digitalisation and artificial intelligence
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura held another edition of its Tech Breakfasts (Desayunos Tecnológicos) on Thursday, an initiative aimed at the island’s business community that this time focused on talent management in the digital age. The event explored the new challenges businesses face in attracting, developing and retaining professionals in a context shaped by digital transformation, artificial intelligence, automation and new working models.
The gathering, organised by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura through its Department of New Technologies, took place at the Palacio de Formación y Congresos de Fuerteventura and brought together professionals specialising in talent management, leadership, training and digital skills.
The councillor for the department, Carmen Alonso, said: “We are experiencing a major technological transformation, with artificial intelligence, automation and new ways of working, but behind every digitalisation process there are still people.”
Alonso explained that “from the Department of New Technologies, we want to support our businesses not only in adopting technology, but also in developing the talent needed to make the most of it.” She added: “We want a Fuerteventura with more digital, innovative and competitive businesses, but also with more opportunities for our talent to train, develop and build their professional future on the island.”
The event provided an opportunity to reflect on new forms of leadership and the strategies businesses can adopt to attract and develop professionals, as well as on the digital skills currently in demand in the labour market and the need to strengthen the link between training and business.
The programme featured various talks and discussion sessions, concluding with an open conversation and a question-and-answer session. The day ended with a networking coffee session, giving participating businesses and professionals the chance to share experiences, forge new connections and continue discussing the challenges around talent and digital transformation.
Use of COPLA technology
One of the new features of this edition was the use, for the first time at a Cabildo event, of COPLA technology, an accessible communication platform that provides automatic subtitling during live events and activities. The system works via a QR code and is particularly designed to make information more accessible to people with sensory impairments.
The introduction of COPLA forms part of the measures the Cabildo is promoting to improve the accessibility of its public events and reduce communication barriers, putting new technologies at the service of more inclusive participation.
The Tech Breakfasts are part of the Cabildo’s commitment to creating spaces for knowledge-sharing, exchange and connection between businesses and professionals in Fuerteventura, addressing different issues related to innovation and digital transformation in each edition.
