The event will take place on 8 October at the Auditorio Insular de Fuerteventura, bringing together professionals, businesses and experts to discuss the applications and opportunities offered by this technology
Fuerteventura will host the first edition of the Fuerteventura Drone Summit on 8 October, a specialist conference aimed at creating a space to discuss the present and future of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), their professional applications and the new opportunities offered by this sector.
The event, organised by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura through its Department of New Technologies and funded by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), will run from 8.30am to 2.00pm at the Auditorio Insular de Fuerteventura in Puerto del Rosario. The event is free to attend, with prior registration required and limited capacity.
Councillor Carmen Alonso explains that “the Fuerteventura Drone Summit has been created to provide a technical forum where public administration, businesses and professionals can share knowledge and jointly address the challenges and opportunities posed by the use of drones”.
“This is a technology that already has a wide range of applications and can offer new solutions in areas such as emergency response, security, infrastructure, the environment, the primary sector and communications. Through this event, we want to bring that potential closer to the island and also help professionalise the sector,” Alonso adds.
A forum to explore the present and future of drones
The Fuerteventura Drone Summit programme includes a series of talks and discussion sessions on the possibilities offered by unmanned aerial systems, with particular focus on areas such as emergency and civil protection operations, technical inspection and infrastructure, environmental monitoring and the primary sector, as well as regulations and the development of U-space airspace.
The event also aims to establish an island-wide technical network around unmanned aerial systems, improve coordination between public bodies and operators, and promote the professionalisation of the sector in Fuerteventura.
The summit will feature three technical talks, four participating companies and various presentations related to the professional use of this technology, as well as a space dedicated to the exchange of knowledge and experience.
An event aimed at professionals and the public alike
The Fuerteventura Drone Summit is aimed at professionals from the aeronautical and emergency services sectors, technology companies, entrepreneurs and students, as well as anyone interested in learning about the possibilities offered by drones and solutions linked to air mobility.
Carmen Alonso encourages people to take part in this first edition, noting that “we also want this Summit to serve as a gateway for those interested in learning more about this sector and its future possibilities. Drone technology is evolving rapidly, and Fuerteventura has the opportunity to generate knowledge and new opportunities around it”.
Participation is free, subject to prior registration and limited availability. Those interested can view the full programme and register via the official Fuerteventura Drone Summit website.
