Young talent in Fuerteventura has a stage again. The Centro Insular de Juventud (Island Youth Centre, CIJ) is launching the third edition of GOAT Talent, the competition aimed at discovering and giving visibility to the artistic and creative interests of young people aged between 12 and 35 who live on the island.
Entries for GOAT Talent 2026 will remain open until 15 September. The contest retains its open, multidisciplinary format, welcoming entries in music, dance, theatre, magic or any other artistic or creative discipline. Participants may take part individually or in groups of up to six.
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura’s councillor for Water, Education and Youth, Adargoma Hernández, points out that this third edition “once again puts the spotlight on all the talent that exists among Fuerteventura’s young people, who often just need that first opportunity to show what they can do”. He adds that “GOAT Talent isn’t just about rewarding a performance, but about offering a space where young people can get on stage, share what they do, and continue developing their skills”.
The president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Lola García, highlighted the continuity of an initiative “that allows our young people to express themselves, create and share their interests with other young people on the island”. García also stressed the importance of “continuing to create spaces for participation where young people themselves take centre stage and can find opportunities to develop their talent”.
From online selection to the stage
The competition will run in two stages. To take part, interested applicants must complete their registration and submit a video or audio recording of between one and five minutes showcasing their act. From all the entries received, eight finalists will be selected to compete live.
The final will be held on Friday, 25 September at the Centro Insular de Juventud, in a gala open to the public and staged with a professional set, lighting and sound.
During the event, the eight finalists will present their acts before a jury, who will assess aspects such as technical execution, creativity, stage presence and originality. The public will also have a say in the outcome through in-person and online voting via the live stream.
Prizes to keep growing
GOAT Talent offers three main prizes, each worth €200 in cash. In addition, winners will have the chance to run a workshop or give a paid performance as part of the Centro Insular de Juventud’s cultural programme, giving continuity to their work beyond the contest itself.
The jury may also award special mentions to other standout acts, who could find further opportunities to take part in the island’s cultural agenda.
