Cabildo de Fuerteventura is improving accessibility at its events and public functions with the introduction of COPLA technology. This advanced software is designed for people with sensory impairments and others who need support to access certain content.
The COPLA platform uses automatic subtitling as a tool to reduce communication barriers at events and activities, adapting to people’s needs. The system works via a QR code.
Today, the Councillor for Accessibility and New Technologies, Carmen Alonso, held a coordination meeting with the heads of Cabildo de Fuerteventura’s various services and departments to introduce this technology and explore how it could be used at the institution’s events.
As Carmen Alonso pointed out, “it’s important to put new technologies at the service of the people. The Cabildo’s goal is to reduce barriers and help more people access information and take part in public events on a more equal footing. No one should be left out because of these limitations, in a more accessible Fuerteventura.”
COPLA is an accessible communication platform developed by the technology and accessibility company Aptent. Founded in 2011, Aptent has established itself as a leading organisation in the field of communication accessibility, working on audiovisual productions, events and the performing arts.
