The event, part of the «FuerteventurIA: Inteligencia Artificial para todos» project, brought together professionals and experts at the Centro Insular de Juventud in Puerto del Rosario, marking a milestone as the first edition to be held outside the capital islands.
Fuerteventura became the epicentre of technological innovation in the Canary Islands this Friday with the staging of #TechTrends FV26, an event jointly organised by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura and the Canarias Excelencia Tecnológica (CET) cluster. The gathering, held at the Centro Insular de Juventud, brought together close to a hundred people, demonstrating the strong interest of the majorero business community in integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into their business models.
This gathering marks an important milestone, as it is the first time the well-established #TechTrends initiative has ventured beyond Gran Canaria and Tenerife, landing in Fuerteventura to bring the latest AI trends to the island in a practical and accessible way. The event forms part of the ambitious «FuerteventurIA: Inteligencia Artificial para todos» project, an initiative driven by the Cabildo and the CET cluster that aims to position the island as a benchmark for technological democratisation, encouraging the adoption of AI across society, education, local businesses and public administration, with the ultimate goal of narrowing the digital divide and boosting the island’s competitiveness.
The day, hosted by Onda Fuerteventura journalist Yolanda Martínez, opened with a warm institutional welcome. Carmen Alonso, the Cabildo de Fuerteventura’s island councillor for Accessibility, Information Technology, New Technologies, Planning and Strategic Projects, highlighted the significance of the event for the island’s economic future: «Today we take another step forward. Fuerteventura is becoming a meeting point for technology, innovation and talent. TechTrends Fuerteventura 2026 has been created to bring innovation and technology closer to businesses and turn knowledge into real tools and solutions».
Alonso also stressed that this is the Cabildo’s central aim: «To bring innovation and technology closer to majorero businesses so they can seize every opportunity on offer, continue growing and become more competitive». The councillor also took the opportunity to announce that the «tech breakfasts» would resume on 1 October, this time focusing on talent management in the digital age.
For her part, Esther Pérez Verdú, representing the Canarias Excelencia Tecnológica cluster, emphasised the value of decentralising the event: «At the cluster we are thrilled to be holding TechTrends in Fuerteventura. It’s the first time the event has left the capital islands, fulfilling one of our objectives, which is to spread wider awareness of technology developed in the Canary Islands». Pérez Verdú underlined the cluster’s commitment to showcasing member companies, some of which are already established on the island, and to «helping institutions, businesses and society at large adopt technology, and AI in particular. Hence the importance of the FuerteventurIA project, which we are carrying out together with the Cabildo de Fuerteventura».
The #TechTrends FV26 programme offered five hours of intensive content, combining theory and practice. Following the opening, Esther Pérez Verdú herself (CEO of NemeSys 2.0) launched the #TechPitch segment, explaining how AI can improve a business. She was followed by a series of sharp, insightful presentations: Mannix Manglani (MNX Online) on the importance of data; Ismael Bacha (AtomTech Consulting) on the need to give businesses a «brain»; Gastón Mora Madrid (Qraneos) on AI and conversational commerce; and Maica Amador (Sparkling Tech Solutions), who showcased a socially impactful application using AI to detect cognitive decline.
The day also included hands-on #WorkShops for those wanting to «get their hands dirty» with the technology, led by Ted Stresen-Reuter (Evolved Ideas) on using ChatGPT, and Yunior González Santana (SQUAADS). The Trust AI project was also presented by Fran Piñeiro and Sara Nuez from the CET cluster.
The event was rounded off in style by Pau Llambí Feliu, founder of Marketers Group, with a #Keynote focused on real-world solutions for SMEs. Llambí previewed his hands-on approach: «I’m going to talk about practical AI, answering everyday questions: How can I create content? How can I automate processes while keeping the AI law in mind? Through practical cases for my company’s daily operations. That’s what the talk is about — getting as practical as possible».
With this resounding success, #TechTrends FV26 and the FuerteventurIA project prove that Artificial Intelligence is not a distant prospect but a transformative reality already within reach of every business in Fuerteventura willing to innovate.
