A coordination meeting was held this Thursday morning, 24 September, to finalise arrangements ahead of the start of the Fiestas del Rosario, chaired by the Mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera. It was attended by the Head of the Local Police, all officers in command of the Police Force, and the Municipal Security and Emergency Services Technician.
In addition to finalising preventive measures and services for the numerous events of the Fiestas del Rosario — including support from the newly created Local Police Drone Unit to enhance safety at events — the meeting reviewed progress in equipping the Police with material and technical resources, outlining the imminent arrival of new police motorcycles, a new vehicle equipped for the police response and intervention unit, and the training of Local Police canine handlers.
Plans were also drawn up for improvements to the internal structure and organisation of the Local Police, including the creation of new police units. It was noted that a selection process is currently under way to recruit 7 new officers, while the Municipal Human Resources Department is finalising the procedure for publishing the terms for a further 9 posts: 3 new Police Officer positions through internal promotion and 6 new Officer posts through open competitive examination.
Finally, the meeting addressed the tendering process for the Base Project of what will become the future Integrated Security, Training and Coordination Complex for the Local Police, which will house the force’s new premises. Once the relevant administrative and legal procedures have been completed, refurbishment works on the new facilities at number 14 Calle Duero are expected to begin in 2027.
