The City Council of La Oliva presents, through the Department of Culture, directed by David Hernandez, and the collaboration of the Department of Culture of the Island Council of Fuerteventura, under the command of Rayco Leon, the cultural agenda planned for the celebration of Easter in El Cotillo. Thus, the old square of the town will feature, on 17 and 18 April, with the Coastal Sound Festival, better known as SOCO, a musical cultural meeting organized by the Association Analogic Foundation, which is now in its 14th edition. The event has been reaching great relevance inside and outside our island, making it a concert in which many Canarian artists show a growing interest in being part of its line-up.
In this edition we will have artists from different genres such as Zamundace – Delaweapon & Once, Supawayah, Africa Yeah (Lanzarote), Bs & Bongo Tree, Eypril (El Cotillo), Brando Chivato (Italy, La Oliva), Papaya Subtropical Sudakita and El Yeye, Fran Baraja (Tenerife) and Dj Kamisetas (Lanzarote).
The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, says: “The municipality celebrates, one more year, its Holy Week in the village of El Cotillo. This is an excellent opportunity for neighbors and neighbors along with visitors to La Oliva come to the town to enjoy good music and other cultural activities that will enjoy all attendees”.
For his part, the Councillor for Culture, David Hernandez, said: “We are proud to collaborate one more year with a festival such as SOCO, as the event has managed to consolidate among locals and visitors, now celebrating its 14th edition. From the Department we invite you to come and enjoy Easter with us to this meeting where alternative music will manage to liven up the evening of these days.”
In turn, the Minister of Culture of the Island Council, Rayco Leon, adds: “The SOCO festival has managed to consolidate in the framework of El Cotillo, with a different proposal that we must continue to support from the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, thus promoting the diversity of styles and supporting, at the same time, the groups that make up the island music scene”.
In addition to this program, the Easter Festival will be held on April 19 in the public square of El Cotillo. From 5:00 p.m. the town will have the traditional African dance and percussion workshop of the west central part of the African continent and from 8:00 p.m. a great night will begin with the groups Que Chimba, Aseres, Grupo Bomba and Grupo Arena.
