The second training block of 2026 includes five specialised courses running between September and December, led by professionals with national and international experience
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through Fuerteventura Film Commission, presented on Monday the second block of its 2026 training programme, a free, specialised training initiative aimed at boosting local talent and helping professionalise the island’s audiovisual sector.
The presentation was attended by the councillor for Fuerteventura Film Commission, Nereida Calero, who noted that “Fuerteventura is hosting more and more audiovisual productions. So far this year, the island has already hosted around ten productions, including series and films, and we want that growth to also translate into opportunities for the talent on our island.”
“The aim is for people living in Fuerteventura to be able to gain these skills, and for companies to be able to select professionals resident on our island, through a training programme tailored to the sector’s needs.”
The presentation was also attended by some of the tutors taking part in this second training block: José Luis Valdivia, Óscar González and Francis Bodí.
The 2026 training programme is structured into two blocks. The first, held between May and July, included specialised courses in areas such as set design, screenwriting and sound post-production. The second block, running between September and December, introduces new training proposals geared towards the current demands of the audiovisual sector.
Five new training proposals
This second block will begin with the course ‘Sound in Audiovisual Projects’, running from 28 September to 2 October and taught by José Luis Valdivia, a filmmaker, photojournalist and international tutor based in Fuerteventura. The course will offer a theoretical and practical overview of sound concepts, equipment and applications in real-world audiovisual production situations.
From 26 to 30 October, it will be the turn of the ‘Film Lighting’ course, taught by Óscar González, one of the most respected lighting technicians in the Canary Islands’ audiovisual scene, linked to the rental of lighting equipment and machinery for productions across the islands. The course will combine theoretical and practical content covering the use of light, shadows and professional equipment applied to audiovisual creation.
The ‘Professional Make-up for Audiovisual Media’ course will run from 9 to 13 November, led by Francis Bodí, a make-up artist and characterisation technician on film sets. The content will cover aspects such as interpreting technical filming documentation, character design, make-up continuity, and characterisation, ambience and advertising techniques.
From 16 to 20 November, the ‘Photography Applied to Film and Television’ course will take place, taught by Cecilia Bayonas, a set photographer. The training will provide basic knowledge of professional photography and a deeper understanding of image capture techniques.
Finally, from 30 November to 4 December, the ‘Wig-making’ course will be held, taught by Paco Rodríguez, a professional who has worked on more than 60 television and film productions. The training will focus on teaching how to make, adapt and maintain wigs and hairpieces for work in fields such as film, theatre and television.
