The first resolution allows for €120,200 to be paid to 47 students, meeting the goal of getting aid to families sooner
Cabildo de Fuerteventura has approved the first partial resolution of study grants for the 2026/2027 academic year, allowing €120,200 to be paid to 47 students who are studying outside the island. The resolution comes just a month after applications opened, an unprecedented turnaround that reflects this year’s goal set by the Department of Education to speed up processing so that families can access the aid as soon as possible.
The resolution, signed on 2 September, not only grants the first 47 scholarships but also authorises the expenditure, acknowledges the obligation and orders payment to the beneficiaries, moving straight ahead to disbursing the aid.
The President of Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Lola García, stressed that “when we brought the application period forward, we did so precisely with this aim in mind: for the effort to streamline procedures to translate into aid reaching families sooner. We know what it means to cover the costs of studying away from the island, and being able to count on the grant at the start of the academic year makes a real difference.”
For his part, the Councillor for Water, Education and Youth, Adargoma Hernández, noted that “we have never managed to resolve the first grants so quickly before. Just a month after applications opened, we already have a first resolution, with payment ordered for 47 students. Our commitment is to keep issuing partial resolutions as files are completed, so that those who meet the requirements don’t have to wait for the entire process to finish.”
This first resolution covers grants for students undertaking official in-person and blended courses outside Fuerteventura. The amounts range from €700 to €1,800 for ESO, Bachillerato and vocational training (Formación Profesional), and from €1,700 to €2,800 for undergraduate and postgraduate university studies, depending on the score obtained.
Beki nears 4,000 interactions in its first month
This year, the streamlined application process has been accompanied by Beki, the virtual assistant specialising in grants, launched to make information easier to access and to answer applicants’ queries. Since going live on 6 August, Beki has registered 166 users and handled a total of 3,999 messages and interactions.
The assistant is available 24 hours a day via telephone on 928 862 404 to handle general enquiries about the grants and, during the requirements stage, to provide specific information to each applicant.
Application period for grants remains open
Cabildo has stressed that the granting of this first round of aid does not mean the application period is closed. The deadline to apply for grants for the 2026/2027 academic year remains open until 25 September, so students who have not yet submitted their application can still do so within the set period.
The grants cover studies undertaken both in Fuerteventura and outside the island and include, depending on the category, ESO, Bachillerato, vocational training, specialisation courses and certain access and preparatory courses, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate university studies.
