The concert by Argentine cumbia band Ráfaga at the 2026 fiestas of Nuestra Señora de La Antigua was a resounding success, with around 7,000 people singing and dancing in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento last Saturday. It followed the eagerly awaited Mecamela tribute concert, which set the stage for a great night of celebration.
Mayor Juan Cabrera said Antigua was packed with crowds, with a cheerful, family-friendly, calm and orderly festive atmosphere and no incidents. He also thanked the Antigua Town Council’s Festivities department and the Fiestas Committee for their hard work in ensuring everything went perfectly, along with all the collaborating businesses.
For her part, the councillor for Festivities, Lucila Ruiz, said Ráfaga did not disappoint and gave it their all, performing a live concert lasting almost two hours to bring a fitting close to their international tour ‘Camino del 30 Aniversario’ in Antigua (Fuerteventura). It was an unforgettable show featuring their biggest hits, including Luna, Bésame, Maldito Corazón and Mentirosa.
Earlier, the Mecamela tribute act drew large numbers of the duo’s fans, who sang along to their best-known songs from a long musical career. The night continued with a verbena street party, featuring the bands Kandela and Mecánica By Tamarindos.
