Mayor Juan Cabrera has announced that the full council today unanimously approved the response to the Servicio Canario de Salud’s request to rectify the file for the transfer of the land.
Councillor for Planning David Alberto added that the plot lies outside the airport’s noise footprint and meets all the planning requirements needed to build this much-needed health facility in the tourist area.
Antigua Town Council today approved, at a full council meeting, the request to update the file for the free transfer of registered property 18494 in Antigua, earmarked for the El Castillo Health Centre.
The Mayor of Antigua, Juan Cabrera, explained that the new Antigua Government had responded to the Servicio Canario de Salud’s request in order to move forward with the land transfer so that the project can get under way.
The file, dated 16 February 2026, was sent by the Servicio Canario de Salud to Antigua Town Council requesting that the documentation be corrected.
The next step is for it to be approved at this September’s full council meeting so that it can be sent to the Government of the Canary Islands, allowing work on the building to proceed.
The health centre will be built on a plot of around 2,000 m² on Avenida Ángel Jove, near the CEIP El Castillo school.
Councillor for Planning David Alberto said that work on transferring this plot had been under way ever since he took over the planning portfolio this term, and that the site lies outside the airport’s noise footprint. He added that it also meets all the planning requirements needed to build this much-needed health facility in the tourist area.
Mayor Juan Cabrera concluded by thanking all members of the municipal Corporation for their unanimous approval, given that this is a matter of general interest.
