The installation of containers at eight points in the municipality will make it easier for citizens to recycle this waste.
The Department of Environment of the City Council of Pájara offers citizens a new service of selective collection and transport of vegetable oil for domestic use, with the aim of providing citizens with a safe and sustainable way to dispose of this waste. This measure responds to the state regulation to establish specific systems for the separate collection of used cooking oil, thus avoiding inappropriate disposal. The initiative is developed in collaboration with the Department of Services and the Municipal Technical Office.
The Councilor for the Environment, Ángeles Acosta, points out that this action responds to the Consistory’s commitment to sustainability and proper waste management. “In addition, the Technical Office is finalizing the specifications that will allow this service to be extended to the whole municipality in a second phase,” she adds.
For his part, the Councilor for Services, Salah Chehaib, stresses the importance of providing the population with effective tools for responsible waste management. “From the Department of Services we have collaborated with the Department of Environment to enable the implementation of this collection system, thus reaffirming our commitment to continuous improvement of both public services and environmental quality of the municipality,” he said.
The collection will be carried out through approved containers specifically designed for this type of waste, which have already been installed in eight strategic points of the municipality. Specifically, the new containers are located in the municipal parking of Pájara, at the traffic circle at the entrance to Ajuy, in the Avenida de la Unión in La Lajita, in the streets Happag Lloyd and Playa de La Jaqueta in Costa Calma, and in the streets Quevedo, Los Atolladeros and Mascona in Morro Jable.
The City Council reminds citizens of the importance of depositing used oil in the appropriate containers. With this service, Pájara advances in its goal of becoming an environmentally friendly municipality, promoting a circular and sustainable economy.
