The ULPGC’s Manuel Velázquez Cabrera Chair and the Cabildo de Fuerteventura are holding a presentation tomorrow, Tuesday 29 September, of the book Los majos. Una aproximación a la arqueología de los antiguos habitantes de Fuerteventura, a work by Jonathan A. Santana Cabrera dedicated to the archaeological knowledge of the island’s earliest inhabitants.
Jonathan A. Santana Cabrera is a researcher specialising in archaeology and the study of the Canary Islands’ aboriginal populations. His career has been linked to research projects on the colonisation of the islands and the adaptation processes of their first inhabitants, approached from a multidisciplinary perspective.
The event will run from 6.00pm to 8.00pm in the auditorium of the Centro Insular de Juventud and will bring together the author alongside Manuel Lobo Cabrera, professor emeritus at the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and Isidoro Hernández Sánchez, director of the Fuerteventura Archaeological Museum.
The presentation will give the public a closer look at a publication focused on the archaeology of Fuerteventura’s early inhabitants and will help spread knowledge about the island’s pre-Hispanic past.
The event has been organised as part of the collaboration between the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, through its Manuel Velázquez Cabrera Chair of the History of Administration, and the Department of Culture of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura.
