Participants gain practical digitalisation skills that they will later apply in real businesses across the island
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through its Department of New Technologies, has launched Red Impulsa FTV, a training and capacity-building programme that will enable around thirty people to train and become certified as digital facilitators, gaining hands-on experience by working directly with businesses in Fuerteventura.
The programme runs until 20 November. Participants from the north, centre and south of the island will acquire practical digitalisation skills that they will subsequently apply in real businesses across the island.
According to the Councillor for New Technologies, Carmen Alonso, “at the Cabildo we are working to make Fuerteventura an island of opportunities through training initiatives, placing particular emphasis on high-demand sectors that help diversify the economy, such as innovation and new technologies, while also supporting businesses in their digitalisation to make them more competitive and better adapted to the times we live in.” “We do this with the help of the town councils, whom we thank for their collaboration, and, of course, with the involvement of Fuerteventura’s SMEs, who are so important to this project.”
The project is funded through financial support from the Canary Islands Government via the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and the Information Society (ACIISI). Also present at the presentation were councillors Rosa Rodríguez (Puerto del Rosario) and Giuseppe Signorino (Antigua).
Josema Cabello, coordinator of the initiative, highlighted the phases involved in the programme: once the registration and selection period had concluded, participants from the northern, central and southern areas began their training, held at venues in Puerto del Rosario, Tuineje and La Oliva, thanks to the collaboration of the respective town councils. This training will help create a network that will spread digital skills across all the municipalities, applying the knowledge gained within businesses across the island.
Through the website https://semillainnova.com/ a form will be made available for any organisations wishing to join this support scheme. Businesses will receive a digital assessment, have their needs identified, and benefit from an individualised plan for each SME, setting out a short- and medium-term roadmap to help them progress in digitalisation.
