On Tuesday, July 1st, a new edition of the Summer Cultural Camp began at the Casa de la Cultura in Puerto del Rosario, a proposal that not only fills the cultural space of the municipality with life, but also offers 50 boys and girls between 11 and 16 years old the opportunity to live a different, creative and totally free summer.
With backpacks full of enthusiasm and talent to discover, the participants were welcomed by the Councilman of Culture, Juan Manuel Verdugo, and by the camp coordinator, Domingo Saavedra, director of the La Nueva Saga Music School. The welcome included the delivery of T-shirts and bracelets that already identify this group that throughout July will share experiences, laughter and many hours of art. A first contact in which they began to get to know each other, share their passions and show that young talent in Puerto del Rosario is more alive than ever.
The Mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, values this initiative very positively: “the Summer Cultural Camp is a clear example of the commitment of this City Council with youth and culture. Offering a free space for artistic training is sowing
future, talent and community”.
“What begins today is much more than a camp: it is a space to express themselves, to create, to lose stage fright and, who knows, perhaps to discover a vocation that will accompany them all their lives,” said Councilman Juan Manuel Verdugo.
The first moments served for the participants to get to know each other. Domingo Saavedra interacted with them by asking them if they already had previous artistic experience, and quickly diverse talents came to light: young people playing instruments, singing, dancing… The atmosphere vibrated with a creative energy that augurs a month full of very artistic learning
.
Throughout the camp, young people will enjoy workshops led by professionals from different artistic disciplines:
Stefy Faga – Circus
Lolo Martín – Theater
René – Dance
Cristina Quesada – Film and Literature
Marina DiMaio – Musical Theater
Desiré Santana – DJ Workshop
Domingo Saavedra – Coordination and Music
The final touch will come at the end of July with a performance where they will show everything they have learned in front of their families, highlighting the collective work and personal growth of each one of them.
With proposals like this, Puerto del Rosario reinforces its commitment to culture and the promotion of young talent because, after this summer, perhaps there will be those who discover that art is not just a vacation activity … but a road to travel.
