The artists will be working on the beach until 31 October, where residents and visitors can watch the creative process behind their works unfold live
Pájara Town Council is once again collaborating on the Pájara International Sculpture Symposium, now in its thirteenth edition, which brings together five artists from Spain, Mexico, Italy, France and the Canary Islands on Ajuy beach.
From 12 October until 31 October, the public has the chance to watch the creative process behind the works as it happens.
The event was attended by the Councillor for Culture, Raquel Acosta; sculptor Carlos Monge, representing the artists; governing group councillor Kathaisa Rodríguez; opposition spokesperson Pedro Armas; and the Mayor of Pájara, Alejandro Jorge.
The event was opened by the head of the department, Raquel Acosta, who welcomed those present and highlighted how the International Sculpture Symposium has become a landmark event in the town of Ajuy.
During the gathering, the representatives underlined the importance of continuing cultural initiatives such as this one, which bring art closer to the public and give residents and visitors the opportunity to get a close-up look at the creative process of artists from different backgrounds. They also praised the event’s contribution to enriching the municipality’s cultural offering and to promoting artistic creation in a setting such as Ajuy beach.
This year’s edition features Noemí Palacios, from Spain; Carlos Monge, from Mexico; Claudia Zanaga, from Italy; Juan Miguel Cubas, from the Canary Islands; and Xavier González, from France.
The event is driven and organised by sculptor Juan Miguel Cubas, with support from Pájara Town Council’s Department of Culture, as part of the council’s commitment to promoting culture and developing initiatives that bring art within reach of the public.
Anyone interested can head to Ajuy beach to watch the sculptors at work from 9.00am to 1.00pm and from 4.00pm to 7.00pm, getting a close-up view of the creative process throughout the symposium.
