The new edition will expand places to 350 and introduce a third level of English and German teaching
Puerto del Rosario, 28 September 2026. The Cabildo de Fuerteventura and ecca.edu have reaffirmed their commitment to the island’s residents by renewing the agreement for the new edition of the ‘We Are & Wir Sind Fuerteventura’ courses. The agreement allows for continued progress in improving the population’s language skills, a key step in boosting employment opportunities, particularly in the services sector.
The initiative aims to equip the tourism sector and the general public with the tools to improve their English and German, with this year’s programme expanding to 350 places and, in response to demand from students, introducing a third level in both languages.
The agreement was signed at the Casa Palacio, the Cabildo Insular’s headquarters, in an event attended by Nuria Cabrera Méndez, Councillor for Finance, Economic Promotion, Human Resources, Sports and Sustainable Mobility at the Cabildo de Fuerteventura; Gorety Almeida Hernández, general director of ecca.edu; and Carmen Nieves Hernández Díaz, head of ecca.edu in Fuerteventura. This strategic alliance reinforces a shared commitment to providing accessible training and inclusive education.
Recognition of partnerships and their impact
The event highlighted the trajectory of an initiative that has run continuously since 2016. ecca.edu thanked the Cabildo de Fuerteventura for its trust and ongoing support, which, together with the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN),
has been a cornerstone in consolidating the project.
The ‘We Are Fuerteventura’ and ‘Wir Sind Fuerteventura’ language programme was created to provide tourism industry workers and the island’s population with the key tools needed to communicate fluently with foreign visitors.
Teaching is delivered through the ecca System, combining flexibility with tailored teaching materials that reflect everyday situations set in Fuerteventura.
Among the students are professionals from the hospitality, transport and retail sectors, local security forces, healthcare staff and workers from Fuerteventura Airport, among other strategic sectors.
Open invitation to the public
To make it easier for participants to balance work and study, and to ensure hands-on learning, weekly in-person tutorials will continue to be held at four strategic locations across the island: La Oliva, Puerto del Rosario, Gran Tarajal and Costa Calma.
Anyone interested in enrolling on these fully funded courses can now submit their application through the Cabildo’s website (www.cabildofuer.es).
