This action represents a significant energy and economic saving, in addition to providing better lighting for users.L

The Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through the area of General Services, directed by Nuria Cabrera, has improved the conditions of the Polideportivo Insular, replacing the old lights with an LED lighting system.

This innovation in lighting consisted of replacing the old lighting, which amounted to a total of 9,600 W with warm lighting, with 25 LED projectors of 133 W each, for a total installed power of 3,325 W. The improvement provides white light, which improves visibility, safety and visual comfort for users.

Significant energy savings are also achieved. With the current lighting, almost two thirds less electrical power is needed to produce the same luminous flux as the previous lamps, thus reducing electrical consumption to much more than half of the current consumption.

Likewise, this technology is known for its long useful life, far exceeding traditional lamps, which translates into a lower maintenance and replacement requirement, representing an important step in improving the energy efficiency of the sports facility, with a very significant reduction in electricity consumption and a notable decrease in CO₂ emissions, thus contributing to the fight against climate change and the reduction of the carbon footprint.

In addition, this action is in line with the installation already carried out at the time of installation of photovoltaic renewable energy in the island sports center ‘Cabildo de Fuerteventura’, which is located in Barrio Fabelo (Puerto del Rosario). The objective of this action has been to provide it with a photovoltaic solar energy production field that guarantees self-consumption and energy savings.

The president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola García, points out that “from the Island Corporation we continue improving the sports facilities under the Cabildo, in this case with the installation of LED technology in the Polideportivo Insular, allowing to have a more sustainable and environmentally friendly sports infrastructure, also providing a much clearer and uniform lighting, eliminating shadows in the enclosure thinking especially in the safety and enjoyment of the participants and spectators”.

Councilor Nuria Cabrera thanked the coordination with the Sports Department, directed by Luis González, which has allowed an intervention that “although not of great importance, is absolutely essential for the users, who from now on will have an improved sports experience during the activities, thanks to an innovative technology that improves the efficiency of the facilities”.
