Los Secretos, Delaossa and Lauta completed the line-up for this edition, the most attended to date, while the daytime programme also drew large crowds on Saturday
Gran Tarajal beach witnessed one of the most crowded nights in living memory in Fuerteventura this Saturday. The second and final day of the Arena Negra Festival 2026 drew a record turnout, with the beach presenting a scene never seen before and reaching its peak moment of anticipation during the concert by Luis Fonsi, which became the most attended ever held on the island.
The musical day began with the five acts of Arena Negra de Día (Arena Negra by Day), which brought to Gran Tarajal a programme centred on Latin rhythms, tropical sounds and traditional Canarian music.
By night-time, Los Secretos were the band chosen to open the concerts on the main stage. The group, a cornerstone of Spanish music history, delivered an exceptional performance outside their regular tour, featuring their trademark full-band sound and a back catalogue of songs that form part of the musical memory of several generations.
The high point of the night came with Luis Fonsi. The Puerto Rican artist, with more than 27 years in the business and a career defined by major international hits such as ‘Despacito’, brought to Gran Tarajal both his classic repertoire and the sounds of his most recent artistic period, captured on the album ‘El Viaje’. His performance drew a crowd that filled the beach and turned the concert into a historic occasion for live music in Fuerteventura. One especially memorable moment came when the singer invited majorera artist Gara Alemán onto the stage, having met her during her time on the TV show ‘La Voz’. The participation of the Fuerteventura-born singer added a particularly emotional touch to a performance that will long be remembered at the festival.
Next came Málaga-born artist Delaossa, one of the leading names on the Spanish urban music scene, who presented his distinctive blend of tradition and modernity, with a personal, intimate style and tracks from his album ‘La Madrugá’.
Lauta brought the concert line-up for this edition to a close, with a sound from Argentina blending pop, R&B and urban influences. His performance held another surprise for the night, as Canarian group Nueva Línea joined him on stage, putting the finishing touch to the musical programme.
Once again, Óscar Martínez, DJ and presenter on LOS40, accompanied the stage changes and the moments before and after the concerts with his sets, while majorera actress Mariam Hernández served as the festival’s host and presenter.
Gran Tarajal filled with music during the day too
At Arena Negra de Día, which drew hundreds of people to the daytime entertainment area, Timbeque opened the programme from midday with a repertoire blending traditional Archipelago music and Latin American melodies, highlighting the musical links between both sides of the Atlantic. Next, ContraVentura, the project led by majorero timple player David Rodríguez Santana, ‘El Majorero’, offered his distinctive take on traditional Canarian music, fusing the timple and the contra majorera with styles such as jazz, funk, rock and flamenco.
Andrea Rodríguez and the Banda del Trópico then took to the stage, presenting their show ‘Songo & Pambiche’, a musical bridge between the Canary Islands and the Caribbean blending merengue, cumbia, timba, salsa, vallenato and son. Singer NIA then took over, bringing her experience in tropical music and salsa, connecting Latin genres with contemporary sounds. Kilombo Improvisado closed the programme in the late afternoon with their mix of Latin rhythms, original songs and popular sounds, in a festive, participatory set.
With this edition, Arena Negra has once again turned Gran Tarajal into a gathering point for live music, bringing together different generations and styles in a seaside setting and reinforcing its role as one of the major musical events of autumn in Fuerteventura. The public response and the record turnout recorded during Luis Fonsi’s concert confirm this edition as the most attended to date.
The Arena Negra Festival is organised by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, in collaboration with the Gobierno de Canarias (Canary Islands Government), the Ayuntamiento de Tuineje, Cajasiete and the Asociación La Gavia.
