Beautifying the municipality through unique, sustainable street furniture. This is the initiative put forward by La Oliva Town Council, through its Tourism Department, headed by David Fajardo, in Corralejo, overlooking the town’s bay. Using 100% recycled plastic bottle caps, a photocall has been created, complete with a selfie spot and a rest area for both locals and visitors.
The aim is to continue beautifying small corners of the municipality, with destination self-promotion becoming a key element of this initiative. In this respect, the Tourism Department has once again joined forces with the Environment Department to create a sustainable, low-cost rest area. The area is made from a material that withstands environmental factors such as salt spray and water erosion and, unlike materials such as iron or wood, requires little maintenance.
The Mayor of La Oliva highlighted the importance of this type of initiative: “Small actions like this one are capable of transforming the look of the municipality, helping to beautify empty spaces, and what better place to do it than in a setting like Corralejo bay, using furniture made from recycled materials.”
For his part, the Councillor for Tourism and the Environment, David Fajardo, explained: “This initiative combines destination self-promotion with sustainability in a setting as unique as Corralejo bay. Both locals and visitors can enjoy this rest area and photocall, which is environmentally conscious furniture made from 100% recycled plastic caps and requires very little upkeep.”
