Guests such as Santiago Segura and Florentino Fernández headline a line-up that also brings together content creators, artists, dubbing actors and leading figures from manga, anime and gaming culture
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura and Puerto del Rosario Town Council presented a new edition of the Canarias Manga Festival on Monday, which will take place from 23 to 25 October in the majorera capital with a programme aimed at fans of manga, anime, video games, K-pop and Japanese culture. The presentation was attended by the Councillor for New Technologies, the Councillor for Youth, Jenifer Cabrera, the Councillor for Finance and Economic Development, Nuria Cabrera, and representatives of the organising team.
The new edition, to be held around Plaza de la Paz (Puerto del Rosario), will feature two of the big names on the bill: Santiago Segura and Florentino Fernández, who will be joined by a wide range of artists, content creators and entertainment professionals. Other guests include Mikecrack, Invictor, Timba VK, Mondongo, Jay Kim, Luis Posada and Masterchen F, alongside further artists, illustrators, mangaka, singers and creators linked to the world of manga and Asian culture.
The Canarias Manga Festival will once again offer a programme designed for audiences of all ages, with cosplay and K-pop competitions, a gaming zone and video game tournaments, meet-and-greets with guests, spaces for artists and illustrators, workshops and various activities related to Japanese culture. The organisers describe the festival as a meeting point for creativity, entertainment and the different communities linked to manga, anime and video games.
According to the Councillor for New Technologies, Carmen Alonso: “We are backing a festival that connects with the interests of our young people, because culture is also expressed through animation, dubbing, illustration, music and digital creation. We want to offer spaces where our young people are not just spectators, but also protagonists.”
On behalf of Puerto del Rosario Town Council, Councillor Jenifer Pérez thanked the Cabildo “for counting on us once again to hold, for another year, an event aimed not only at young people and residents of the municipality, but at the whole island.”
Representing Zukoabega Producciones, Sergio Falcón highlighted the intense work carried out to bring the event back to the majorera capital for another year, with a programme catering for audiences of all ages.
Activities for all ages
The programme includes a range of activities across the three days of the festival, with spaces dedicated to cosplay, K-pop contests, video games and tournaments, as well as an area for artists and creators. This year’s edition also introduces a digital passport that will allow attendees to take part in various activities and unlock rewards.
The festival thus continues its commitment to bringing Fuerteventura a programme linked to Japanese culture and contemporary entertainment, while creating a meeting space for fans, families, young people, artists and creators.
