The 25-hour course will run from 28 September to 2 October at the Centro Cultural del Valle de Santa Inés
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through its Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, together with GDR Maxorata, are organising a new training course for Fuerteventura’s primary sector on basic-level handling of phytosanitary products. The course will take place at the Centro Cultural del Valle de Santa Inés, in Betancuria, from 28 September to 2 October, from 4.00pm to 9.00pm.
The course will run for a total of 25 hours and will be taught by Lidia Castañeda Casañas, an agricultural technical engineer, with Almudena Rodríguez Navarro, a qualified nurse, covering the health-related section.
The training forms part of the grants for GDR Maxorata’s own projects for 2026–2027, under the Local Participatory Development Strategy for the island of Fuerteventura, Intervention 7119 PEPAC 2023-2027.
The costs of the activity are co-financed 80% by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), 6% by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAPA) and 14% by the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Directorate-General for Agriculture.
The Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, chaired by councillor Enrique Pérez Brito, co-finances GDR Maxorata’s management and running costs, reinforcing its commitment to training for the island’s primary sector and supporting its role as a collaborating body with the Directorate-General for Agriculture of the Government of the Canary Islands in managing Leader rural development grants. The Ayuntamiento de Betancuria is also collaborating on this initiative.
