The Cabildo de Fuerteventura is increasing the funding it directs to Fuerteventura Fashion Week, with the aim of establishing a leading event in the Canary Islands’ fashion sector, which also receives support from Puerto del Rosario Town Council.
The agreement was signed by the Councillor for Economic Promotion, Nuria Cabrera, and the head of the brand, Rosa María Perdomo. The island authority is thereby allocating a total of €60,000 from the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN).
This funding gives a boost to an event that serves as a showcase for Canarian designers, while also helping to strengthen the island’s position as a hub for creativity and a cultural destination on the international stage.
According to the Councillor for Economic Promotion, Nuria Cabrera: “Fuerteventura has talent, creativity and a great deal to offer. In this sense, this event represents a real commitment to our designers, professionals and an industry that generates and projects the island’s name.”
For its part, the organisation highlights the event as a unique opportunity to showcase the talent of Canarian designers and to establish Fuerteventura as the fashion capital of the Canary Islands.
Fuerteventura Fashion Week also helps position Fuerteventura as an attractive destination for visitors linked to the fashion sector (professionals, media, influencers and the public), as well as boosting and energising strategic sectors such as hospitality, catering, retail and services, generating both direct and indirect employment.
