Island services such as Fire, Roads and Works and Machinery are on alert to guarantee a quick and safe response in case of need.

The first 24 hours after the declaration of rain alert situation in Fuerteventura have concluded without relevant incidents. Cabildo and municipalities have reinforced their troops, explained the president of the Cabildo, Lola Garcia, who appreciates the cooperation of citizens in compliance with the recommendations and precautions.

The Councilor for Security and Emergencies, Lolina Negrín, points out that “we keep on alert island services such as the Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Service (SPEIS), the Road Service or the Works and Machinery Service to ensure a quick and safe response if required”.

In accordance with Decree 2407/2025 of the Presidency of the Cabildo, the Emergency Management, supported by the Technical Directorate, proceeded to implement all necessary measures such as the organization of roadblocks in key services to deal with a crisis situation and restore normality.

The mobilization of the necessary means and resources of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, as well as establishing communication systems with CECOES 1-1-2 and communicating the activation of the PEIN of Fuerteventura to the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies, CECOES 1-1-2, the municipalities of Fuerteventura, the Insular Directorate of the State Administration, the Spanish Red Cross, the Civil Guard and the Port Authority of Las Palmas, generated a wide network of immediate action in case of being required.

An example of these devices established and awaiting activation are the roadblocks of the Cabildo’s Works and Machinery Service, made up of two teams (center-north and center-south), each with a flatbed truck to transport machinery, an excavator shovel and a motor grader, with their respective specialized operators.

The population is urged to follow the following self-protection advice from the General Directorate of Emergencies: https://www.gobiernodecanarias.org/emergencias/alertas/consejos/inundaciones/inundaciones.html
