The first edition of this in-person league will feature four games and six rounds, with registration open until 12 November
Fuerteventura will host the FTV Game Party Liga for the first time, an in-person video game competition that will tour the island’s six municipalities. The initiative will kick off this November, allowing participants to compete in different towns over six rounds. Registration will remain open until 12 November.
The league is built on a simple premise: one person, one team. Each participant will compete under their own name and crest, which they can design using the generator available on the official website if they don’t already have one. The competition will feature four games, each with its own standings: Mario Kart World, Clash Royale, EA Sports FC 27 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The format will not be a knockout. Match-ups will be fixed from the start and played out over six rounds, one in each municipality. The scoring system will reward both results and participation: a win will earn three points, a draw two, and a loss one, simply for showing up. Failure to attend will mean zero points for the absent participant and three for their opponent. The organisers are also committed to fair play and have set out penalties for inappropriate behaviour, which can range from a loss of points to expulsion from the league.
At the end of the competition, each game will crown its own champion. In addition, the top three finishers in each category will go straight through to the advanced rounds of the open tournaments at December’s FTV Game Party, the island’s big year-end gaming gathering.
The initiative is supported by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through its New Technologies department, and by the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), with collaboration from INX Arena, the Asociación Omotenashi and Chikaku.
Anyone interested can register by sending an email to ftvgmup@gmail.com, stating their team name, chosen game and contact details, and attaching their crest. Full information about the league, each game’s rules and the standings is available at ftvgmup.netlify.app. The schedule and venues for each round will also be published on the website and on the Instagram profile @ftvgamerparty.
