Surco, a show by Domingo “El Colorao” – III ENATIM

Twenty years have now passed since Aulaga, a recording project devised and directed by Domingo Rodríguez “El Colorao”, was launched at the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in December. Ten years later, this timple player, trained in both popular and classical traditions, presented Jable at the Teatro Pérez Galdós, a new roots-based show which, like Aulaga, featured leading players and singers from the world of traditional music. Both works proved hugely popular and have served as a school for new generations, who see themselves reflected in them, capturing the essence of popular wisdom and the deep-rooted tradition that both productions bring to the stage.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Aulaga and the 10th of Jable, and the popular majorero timple player Domingo “El Colorao” now presents Surco, a new work rooted in tradition, in which the wisdom of established artists from the world of traditional music blends with the energy and enthusiasm of the new generations, who see their musical influences reflected in themselves as they share the stage with them. Both generations will be seen interacting in Surco, this new project by Domingo “El Colorao”, in which the musical arrangements of certain pieces combine with the spontaneity and freshness of traditional musicians.
