A tomato-flavored fair, tradition and local pride

The City Council of Tuineje values very positively its participation in the Agricultural, Livestock and Fisheries Fair of Fuerteventura (FEAGA) 2025, which closed its doors with an estimated attendance of 43,000 people, consolidating as one of the busiest editions of recent years. Throughout the weekend, the Tuineje stand was a recurring point of visit, thanks to a dynamic and attractive proposal with a strong local identity.

This year, the municipality decided to pay tribute to one of its star products: the tomato. Under this premise, the Tuineje stand offered a sensory and cultural experience around this historic crop, combining tastings, informative activities and very emotional moments, such as Friday’s tribute to the tomato tradition of the municipality. The association Acaicate starred in an endearing representation of the role of women in the work of the harvest, a tribute that touched both residents and visitors.

In addition, the program included two showcookings that put in value the local product with surprising and close culinary proposals. The Councilor for Culture, Dulce García, led one of these gastronomic demonstrations, while the Mayoress, Candelaria Umpiérrez, put on her apron to share a traditional recipe that captured the attention of the public.

The councilman of Primary Sector, Jonathan Peña, valued very positively the impact of the stand: “We are very pleased with the reception. We not only managed to show the value of our products, but also put in the center the effort of our people, the history and the roots of the primary sector in Tuineje. The tomato tradition is part of our identity and we wanted to reflect it in this FEAGA”.

For her part, the mayor of Tuineje, Candelaria Umpiérrez, highlighted the teamwork and participatory nature of the municipality: “Tuineje has demonstrated, once again, its ability to get involved and shine in the major events of the island. We have had the collaboration of groups, associations and neighbors who have made possible a lively, close and soulful stand. This FEAGA has been an opportunity to project the best of our primary sector and we have done it with pride and creativity”.

With more than 220 stands throughout the enclosure, FEAGA 2025 is consolidated as an essential event for the primary sector of the Canary Islands. Tuineje, with its clear commitment to identity and innovation, has left an outstanding mark in this edition, reinforcing its commitment to rural development, sustainability and the promotion of its products and traditions.
