The Cabildo, together with Fuerteventura Protagonista, is launching an Island Guide to Community Resources to connect and raise the profile of resources across Fuerteventura
The Cabildo de Fuerteventura, through its Department of Social Action, Diversity, LGTBIQ+, Citizen Participation and Open Government, and the Fuerteventura Protagonista project, run jointly with the Fundación General de la Universidad de La Laguna (FGULL), have completed work on the Community Resources Guide for Fuerteventura. The initiative aims to make it easier to find out about the resources available on the island and to foster connection, collaboration and coordination between the various players that make up its community fabric.
“It was drawn up in response to a request made by the island’s social and community sector during last year’s listening process, with the aim of providing a practical tool that makes it easier to identify and recognise existing resources,” explained the island’s president, Lola García.
Víctor Alonso, Councillor for Social Action, Diversity, LGTBIQ+, Citizen Participation and Open Government, said that “the joint work between the Social Action department and Fuerteventura Protagonista allows us to move forward with a tool that not only gathers information, but also helps to showcase everything that is being done across Fuerteventura and to create new opportunities for collaboration, participation and support among those who are part of the community.”
The publication is currently in the design and layout stage and is expected to be released during October. Once published, it will provide the public, professionals, administrations, organisations and community groups with a reference tool for finding out about and locating the island’s various community resources.
The guide includes information on public services, organisations, associations, community groups and other resources, offering a territorial overview of what is available across Fuerteventura’s six municipalities. It also features a dedicated section covering entities and other diverse resources operating on the island, further broadening awareness of the network of resources available to the population.
A total of 387 resources have been identified, distributed geographically as follows: 106 at island level, 30 in Antigua, 17 in Betancuria, 51 in La Oliva, 37 in Pájara, 101 in Puerto del Rosario and 31 in Tuineje.
The resources are organised into different thematic areas, including Social Action; the Third Sector and associations; culture; economy and employment; education; sport; the environment; health; safety; transport; and neighbourhood associations. The information can also be searched by municipality and area of activity, making it easier to look up and locate the various resources. This structure makes it possible to see the initiatives that exist in each area and to highlight the diversity of players contributing to community development in Fuerteventura.
A guide open to new additions
The Fuerteventura Island Guide to Community Resources has been created with a view to ongoing continuity and updates. It is intended as a living tool, open to the addition of new resources, organisations, projects and initiatives operating on the island.

In this way, the guide can grow alongside the island itself, helping to keep knowledge of Fuerteventura’s community network up to date and fostering new opportunities for engagement, collaboration and participation.
