On Saturday, April 26, the capital of Puerto del Rosario will host one of its most anticipated events: the X Carrera Popular y Solidaria Trotadunas, organized by the Trotadunas Sports Club, with the collaboration of the City Council of Puerto del Rosario. This edition will be held at night, adding a special attraction to a race that, in addition to its sporting value, has a deep social commitment.
On this occasion, the solidarity objective of the race will be to support the Amadi Association, which works actively in the fight against diabetes in Fuerteventura, offering support and resources to people affected by this disease on the island.
The race will start at 20:00 hours, with the departure of the participants in the modality of 10 kilometers, followed by the runners of the distance of 5 kilometers. Both routes will start and finish at the pedestrian street of Los Pozos, in the heart of Puerto del Rosario.
The 5 km circuit will run along the promenade to the old Parador de Playa Blanca, and then return to the starting point. The 10 km participants will complete two laps of the same route. This is a mixed route, which combines asphalt and dirt sections, and stands out for its stunning views of the bay of Puerto del Rosario. In addition, it has been carefully designed to minimize the impact on urban traffic, avoiding unnecessary detours and reducing the inconvenience to citizens. The route will have two refreshment points for the welfare of the runners.
After the awards ceremony, the night will continue with a great outdoor celebration with live music by two well-known groups of the majorero music scene: Ochenteros and Laly Lean, which will put rhythm and joy to a day that will unite sport, solidarity, culture and citizen coexistence to close an unforgettable night in the memory of Puerto del Rosario.
The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, stressed that “events like the Trotadunas Race represent the spirit of our city: active, supportive, committed to health and the welfare of its people. We are proud to collaborate in an event that goes beyond sport and becomes a tool for social awareness and cultural dynamization.”
The Councilor for Sports, Erica González, said that “this race is a clear example of how sport can become an engine of social transformation. We encourage all citizens to join this celebration of effort, health and solidarity, participating or supporting the runners from the streets”.
For his part, the Councillor for Culture, Juan Manuel Verdugo, stressed that “culture will also be present as a finishing touch to a magical night, with live music that will highlight local talent and reinforce the festive nature of this long-awaited event”.
Online registration will remain open until tomorrow, Tuesday, April 22, at 21:00 hours. After that, those who still wish to participate can register in person on Thursday 24 and Friday 25, from 17:00 to 21:00 hours, at the Centro Comercial Las Rotondas.
From the City Council of Puerto del Rosario, neighbors and visitors are invited to participate, support and enjoy an evening full of positive energy, for the benefit of a noble cause.
Join us, run, collaborate and celebrate a special night in Puerto del Rosario!
