A weekend full of local flavor, culture and fishing tradition with activities for all audiences

The City Council of Pájara, through the Department of Primary Sector, reports the celebration of the third edition of the Bonito and Blue Fish Fair, which will take place this weekend, from 28 to 30 March, in the town of Morro Jable. This gastronomic event highlights the richness and fishing tradition of the island offering a unique experience to enjoy the local gastronomy.

The fair will begin on Friday, March 28, at 18:00 hours, with a lecture by the expert José Antonio González, from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, who will share his knowledge about the benefits and characteristics of blue fish during the three days of the event. After the lecture, the parranda ‘El Campillo’ will perform, bringing a musical and traditional touch to the opening day.

The councilman of Primary Sector, José Manuel Díaz, highlights the importance of this event for the local economy and the gastronomic culture of the island. “This fair is not only an excellent opportunity to promote our native products, but also to value the work of our fishermen”. In addition, the councilman points out that “this event is a sign of the commitment of the City Council of Pájara with the primary sector and the sustainable development of the island”.

For his part, the mayor of Pájara, Alejandro Jorge, stresses the importance of holding this event as a sign of the link between our primary sector with gastronomy and tourism. “It is an ideal enclave to hold fairs of these characteristics, as well as the one we have recently held in the town of Pájara, related to cheese,” he stresses.

Saturday March 29 and Sunday March 30 will be full of activities for all ages, including children’s workshops, demonstrations of Bluefin Tuna and Bonito Ronqueo, show cooking with local chefs, contest for the best tapa of the fair, and workshops jareas. Sunday will culminate with a closing ceremony with a performance by the parranda ‘Son de Antaño’.
