The training will tour different localities of the island.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through the Department of New Technologies, has successfully started the training action ‘Parental Control and safe use of cell phones and tablets’, aimed at the Associations of Parents and Parents of Students (FIMAPA) of the island.
The project is funded by the FDCAN and its main objective is to provide families with tools and knowledge that allow them to monitor and effectively manage the use that their children make of cell phones and tablets, thus promoting a safe digital environment. The training has already started in the Cultural Center of Tesjuate and will be given in different locations such as Morro Jable, Costa Calma, Gran Tarajal, Antigua, Puerto del Rosario, La Oliva or Corralejo, among others.
The island councilor for New Technologies, Carmen Alonso, values this initiative to “empower families” with useful and updated information so that they can accompany their sons and daughters in the digital world. In this sense, she highlights the commitment of the Cabildo majorero with digital education and the protection of minors in the online environment. “More and more children are accessing technology and social networks from an early age; that is why we believe that this program is vital,” he concludes.
Strategic Line of Knowledge R+D+i
During the talks, key topics such as the benefits and risks of using digital devices, the use of parental control tools, the safe configuration of cell phones and recommendations for a responsible and autonomous use of technology are addressed. In addition, families are provided with support materials, including practical guides, web resources and video tutorials.
The talks are part of the Strategic Line of Knowledge I+D+i of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, within the axis of promoting digital public services and action ‘Digital skills for citizenship’. The project ultimately seeks to promote innovation and knowledge as pillars for a digitally prepared society.
