Participants receive discount cards for the purchase of healthy products, thanks to an agreement signed by Cabildo, Padilla Supermercados and Asociación Neurolímpica.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has signed today the agreement ‘Fuerteventura, for a healthy old age’ with Neurolímpica Association and Padilla Supermercados Spar. An initiative that has allowed to deliver discount cards for the purchase of healthy products and basic necessities to the participants of the project NeuroMajo2025 of the Department of Social Action of the Island Corporation.
The president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola Garcia, explains that, “with this action, we appreciate the effort and dedication that our elders make, overcoming challenges, learning and, above all, enjoying the activity NeuroMajo2025, which is our goal from the Cabildo”.
The Councilor for Social Action, Victor Alonso, said that “from the Cabildo we continue to work with and for the elderly, with the involvement from the first minute of all municipalities in the NeuroMajo2025”. “Since March we have started with the training and today we thank the efforts of all the participants through this agreement with Padilla Supermercados Spar”.
On behalf of Padilla Supermercados Spar, Juan Alberto Padilla, explained that “this is a way to support the people who join the NeuroMajo initiative, who will have discounts on 43 families of products, in the 16 establishments we have on the island”. “An action that motivates us to continue creating initiatives of a social nature”.
Besay Rodriguez, president of Neurolímpica Association, said that “Fuerteventura has been determined to be a pioneer in everything that has to do with the Neurolimpiadas. Last year, was the first island to make full with all municipalities participating in the activity and, this year, continues to innovate with an agreement that benefits the people who compete in the Neuromajo. This speaks very well of the involvement of the Cabildo and of all the participants”.
At the signing ceremony were present about a hundred of the three hundred people participating this year in NeuroMajo2025, who wanted to be present at today’s event. They collected the discount cards a representation of participants from each municipality: Lucas Hernández and Pilar Pérez representing the municipality of Tuineje, Milagros Falcón Gordillo and Amelia Sánchez from the municipality of Antigua, Yolanda Padilla and Kalala Cabrera from the municipality of Betancuria, Toñi Alonso and Ramón Ernesto García from Puerto del Rosario, Juana Rosa Naranjo and José Martín from La Oliva and María del Carmen Rodríguez Quesada and Manuel Hernández from the municipality of Pájara.
They were accompanied by councilors Kathaisa Rodríguez and Ángeles Acosta (Pájara), América Soto (Antigua), Jennifer Pérez (Puerto del Rosario) and Joana Pérez (La Oliva). Nayra Peña Cabrera also participated on behalf of Tuineje. The event was also attended by the councilors Adargoma Hernandez and Marlene Figueroa of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, and the island director of the General Administration of the State, Maria Jesus de la Cruz, among other authorities.
NeuroMajo 2025
After the success of its first edition, NeuroMajo has returned this year, with the collaboration again of the six municipalities and the Neurolímpica Association. The competition will take place next September 26, 27 and 28 at the facilities of the Experimental Farm of Pozo Negro, with the participation, currently, of 300 participants. Last June, the ‘friendly matches’ began within the framework of this activity.
