The three beaches of the capital revalidated the award that recognizes the environmental quality and services offered.
In the theater of Gáldar, at noon on Tuesday, June 10, the authorities and representatives of the municipalities and ports of the Canary Islands received the blue flags that the Association of Environmental Education and Consumer (Adeac) delivered this year.
The City Council of Puerto del Rosario was represented by Toñi Fdez Aragón, councilor of Beaches, who received from the hands of the president of Adeac, the three flags that will fly in Playa Blanca, Los Pozos and Puerto Lajas.
The mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, stressed that “our beaches are one of our main attractions, for residents and visitors, and these blue flags corroborate that the improvements we are implementing are going in the right direction”.
The Councilwoman of Beaches, Toñi Fdez Aragón, showed his satisfaction because “maintaining this award is not an easy task, as each year they are stricter with the quality criteria required. Thanks to the good weather we enjoy, these beaches receive users all year round, so we ask everyone to respect and care for the coastline to keep it in the best possible condition.
Los Pozos beach has been awarded the Blue Flag since 2015.
Playa Blanca has held the award since 2010 and Puerto Lajas since 2012.
The Blue Flag has become the most recognizable and recognized symbol by millions of beach and port users in almost fifty countries, as well as a worldwide standard for tourism eco-quality, and an inspiration for other beach and port quality certification initiatives.
