On the evening of Tuesday May 27, in the Plaza de la Paz in Puerto del Rosario was celebrated a very special day with the first Meeting of Senior Centers of Fuerteventura, where seniors from all over the island shared a day full of music, traditions and good times. There were prizes for the most outstanding traditional costume.
This event, organized together with the Government of the Canary Islands and with the collaboration of the municipalities of Antigua and Tuineje, reminded us of the importance of being together, of taking care of our roots and of continuing to learn from those who have built our history.
For the mayor of the capital, David de Vera, “in these formidable meetings we can socialize, listen and learn from our elders in a very pleasant environment where tradition, customs and culture go hand in hand, in an activity framed in the multiple options scheduled for the Day of the Canary Islands”.
The Councilman of Culture, Juan Manuel Verdugo, expressed “the satisfaction of seeing our elders in such a participatory environment where they are the protagonists with traditional music, dance groups, Canarian cuisine and everything related to the ephemeris of the Canary Islands Community”.
