Approval of a budget amendment of 2.2 million euros for housing and personal care activities
The Cabildo’s plenary session authorizes part of the financing for the housing rehabilitation project in Cotillo, as well as for the management and improvement of social and health resources.V
The Plenary of the Cabildo has unanimously approved a budget amendment of more than 2.2 million euros to support actions aimed at the field of housing, social action and care for people in Fuerteventura.
In this way, the Island Corporation has authorized the financing it provides for the 2024 and 2025 annuities of the project ‘Programmed Rehabilitation Residential Environment’ in El Cotillo (municipality of La Oliva).
The island president Lola Garcia stressed “the firm commitment of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura in housing, as well as its commitment to a sustainable development model that prioritizes the recovery of housing, instead of consuming more land”.
The Councilor for Finance and Economic Promotion, Nuria Cabrera, explained that the ERRP project in El Cotillo receives 1.1 million euros from the Cabildo in three annual installments, having been approved in this plenary session the amounts corresponding to 2024 and 2025, amounting to 752,115,30 euros.
It is expected to approve the third annuity (2026) in the next plenary session of the Island Corporation. The project is aimed at rehabilitating some 138 homes, within an agreement signed between the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, the City Council of La Oliva, Canary Islands Government and the State, framed in the Recovery Plan for Transformation and Resilience-Funded by the European Union NextGeneration EU in the autonomous community of the Canary Islands.
The Councilor for Social Action, Victor Alonso, has valued the involvement of the different administrations through different plans, which allow to cover actions in housing, both in rehabilitation and construction, on the island of Fuerteventura.
The approved modification of credits allows, in addition, to direct more than one million euros to the management of social and health resources and the improvement and reform of centers owned by the Cabildo as the Social and Health Center of Daytime Stay for people in a situation of dependency Josefina Plá. As explained by Victor Alonso, it is also aimed at supporting welfare and health programs for the population as NeuroMajo2025, as well as the program of reception and integration of young people extutelados / as Canaria Main Foundation and support for the Regional Meeting of Municipalities Islands Health Promoters, organized by the City of La Oliva, which is part of the Strategy for Health Promotion and Prevention in the National Health System (SNS) to which the Cabildo of Fuerteventura is adhered. Funding has also been approved to support the project ‘Higía, Robot Social’ of CIFP Majada Marcial, which is aimed at improving the quality of life of the elderly or dependent people through the creation of social robots with interaction technology.
In the areas of Commerce and Handicrafts, directed by Lolina Negrín, coverage is provided to the I buy in Fuerteventura’ program of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, in collaboration with the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (FAUCA). It also gives continuity to the EnRedarte project that includes workshops for the recovery and dissemination of crafts in Fuerteventura, as well as actions to promote the Fuerteventura craft sector.
Environmental Assessment
The Plenary has also given the green light to the collaboration agreement between the Cabildo and the City Council of Pájara for the delegation of powers in environmental assessment of projects promoted by public or private initiative on land located in the municipality. It is subscribed at the request of the Town Council of Pájara and has been unanimously approved.
