The Mancomun cattle breeders celebrate a magnificent apañada in Valle de La Cueva
– Numerous breeders, hundreds of goats and a magnificent atmosphere at the apañada held this weekend in Valle de La Cueva.
– The mayor of Antigua, Matías Peña, together with the councilman of the primary sector attended the sanitary control and vaccination of goats, baifos and some bucks.
– Pedro Moseguez, Commissioner of the Southern Common Market, coordinated accounts and markings, accompanied by the Commissioner of the Northern Common Market, Tomás Acosta.
In Antigua, the tradition of the “apañadas” is still alive and well, and this weekend was demonstrated by the numerous participating breeders and hundreds of coastal goats gathered at the Gambuesa del Valle de la Cueva, where all the goats underwent a health control and vaccination.
The mayor, Matías Peña, as usual, on this occasion with the councilman of the primary sector, Fernando Estupiñán, accompanied the farmers in the work coordinated by Commissioner Pedro Moseguez, and with the welcome presence of Commissioner Tomás Acosta, now recovered from his convalescence.
Along with the most veteran breeders, there were also young people participating, who, as the mayor pointed out, will hopefully maintain the continuity of a tradition such as the coastal goat herds in the Mancomún, an activity that allows the crossing and the healthiness of the specimens.
Experience, youth and a magnificent atmosphere, says Matias Peña, in a very pleasant event, where work was hard and under the sun, and which ended as it could not be otherwise, gathering veterans and young people around a well-stocked table of wood-fired bread, potatoes with mojo, cheese and of course, goat meat stew with potatoes.
