The project is part of the PSTD ‘Fuerte por Naturaleza’ of the Regional Ministry of Tourism, with key improvements in accessibility and sustainability.
The Cabildo of Fuerteventura has completed the rehabilitation of the market of the Casa del Coronel in La Oliva, within the Tourism Sustainability Plan Destination ‘Fuerte por Naturaleza’ of the Department of Tourism. The action has had an investment of 257,582 euros.
With the completion of this project, “the functionality and competitiveness of a fundamental space for local commerce and the promotion of Majorero culture and gastronomy is enhanced,” explains the president of the Cabildo, Lola García.
The Councilor for Tourism, Marlene Figueroa, highlighted the good results of a work that has made it possible to modernize an important enclave for residents and visitors. Greater accessibility, sustainability and functionality are guaranteed.
Both García and Figueroa highlight the coordination established with the City Council of La Oliva within this plan, which has allowed to promote this and other projects to increase the tourist attractiveness of the municipality. “This same coordination has been taken to all municipalities, “with the common goal of having a more sustainable, cohesive and competitive tourism model,” said Figueroa.
This coordination has made it possible to extend the actions of the PSTD ‘Fuerte por Natturaleza’, a plan with more than 9.1 million euros, financed by the ‘Next Generation EU’ program under Spain’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR). Within the PSTD ‘Fuerte por Naturaleza’, important projects have already been completed, such as the restoration of the Torre del Tostón in Cotillo, the refurbishment of the Puerto del Rosario promenade, the installation of photovoltaic canopies in the six municipalities and actions for shaded areas and improved waste collection on the beaches, among others.
