Councilwoman Kathaisa Rodríguez bets on prevention and emotional education as the basis for a violence-free society.

The City Council of Pájara, through the Department of Social Services and its Women’s Program, successfully completed the project ‘El Rincón de los Buenos Tratos’, an initiative for the prevention of violence that has been carried out in schools in the municipality and which has received funding from the State Pact against Gender Violence.

The Councilor for Social Services, Kathaisa Rodríguez, stressed that this project “is committed to prevention as a fundamental tool for building a more just, egalitarian and violence-free society”. In addition, she pointed out that “314 young people from the municipality’s six infant and primary schools and secondary school participated in the workshops”.

Likewise, the councilor reaffirmed the commitment that the government group has with the children and youth of the municipality. “Through initiatives that reinforce empathy, self-esteem and respect. Projects like this strengthen the foundations for a more egalitarian and violence-free society,” she remarked.

The activity was directed by the professional Marta Caballero, director of ‘Un lugar en calma’, and counted with the active participation of women from the municipality, who shared with the students their experiences about what relationships and community life were like in other times. These women were María Francés Morales, Juana Pérez Hernández, Josefa Ramos Betancor, Rosario Rodríguez Placeres, María Cayetana Rodríguez Rodríguez Rodríguez, Juana Cabrera Cabrera and María del Pilar Vega Santana.

The Department highlights the excellent reception of this project by students, teachers and families, consolidating ‘El Rincón de los Buenos Tratos’ as an effective tool for prevention, training and awareness.
