Entries sold out, waiting lists in place, and more than 60 participants eager to take to the track for the La Oliva Rally on 6 and 7 November. The 37th edition of this sporting event marks a turning point for off-road motor racing across the Archipelago, with numbers surpassing any participation ever recorded for the event. The competition goes international this year, featuring drivers such as Yohan Rossely and his co-driver Arnaud Dunand, who will battle it out for the podium on our dirt tracks.<\/p>\n
It is an unprecedented spectacle in the history of motorsport on the island, made possible through joint efforts by La Oliva Town Council, via its Sports Department led by Gleiber Carre\u00f1o, the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, the Clubs Unidos de Fuerteventura, and all the athletes and federations involved.<\/p>\n
As it does every year, the event will pay tribute to drivers and co-drivers for their careers in the island’s motorsport scene. This year it will honour driver Luis Ascanio Hierro and his co-driver, Arcadio Hern\u00e1ndez Morales, both former competitors from the municipality in this discipline.<\/p>\n
The mayor of La Oliva, Isa\u00ed Blanco, highlighted the major transformation the event has undergone during his term in office: “After a period of inactivity, the rally has become an international-category competition, which shows just how important motorsport is in our municipality and across Fuerteventura as a whole. We invite everyone to come and enjoy the special stage and the rally on 6 and 7 November.”<\/p>\n
For her part, the Sports Councillor, Gleiber Carre\u00f1o, said: “Our local drivers are, quite literally, the driving force behind this event, which will be a key moment for off-road rallying both on the island and across the Archipelago.”<\/p>\n
Finally, the Sports Councillor for the Cabildo, Luis Gonz\u00e1lez, explained that “as part of the roadmap set out by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, 2026 marks a step up in quality, with a firm commitment to rally events in Fuerteventura, and the La Oliva Rally is a prime example of that.”<\/p>\n
