Antigua Town Council’s Department of Culture has praised the strong turnout and quality of the session delivered by renowned Mexican storyteller Marta Escudero last Friday, 2 October, at the Biblioteca del Port\u00f3n. The session, titled Cuando te hablen de amor (“When they speak to you of love”), captivated an enthusiastic audience.<\/p>\n
The deputy mayor, Joana Verde, highlighted the wonderful evening enjoyed during this first session and the quality of the entire programme for this sixth edition. For his part, the Councillor for Culture, Agust\u00edn Rodr\u00edguez, recalled that he launched this initiative six years ago as Antigua’s Councillor for Culture. \u201cI’m now proud to see it has become firmly established, with Gemma G as director, and that it draws such crowds, because it’s an appealing cultural event, held outdoors in a family-friendly and deeply heartfelt atmosphere,\u201d Rodr\u00edguez added.<\/p>\n
Antigua’s Candil de Cuentos (“Storytelling Lantern”) brings a touch of magic at dusk to the courtyard of this beautiful traditional Canarian stone-and-timber house, with captivating tales told by candlelight.<\/p>\n
The programme continues next Friday with a session led by Diego Reinfeld, ‘Miedo por andar por casa’ (“Fear of Being Around the House”), on 9 October at 7.00pm. Admission is free, with prior booking required through Antigua Town Council on 928 549 663 or biblioteca@ayto-antigua.es.<\/p>\n
Alongside this, residents are also encouraged to take part in the Thursday sessions of ‘Fuerteventura entre renglones’ (“Fuerteventura Between the Lines”), a workshop for writing short stories inspired by images of the island.<\/p>\n
