Cabildo de Fuerteventura has announced special traffic measures for access to Vega de R\u00edo Palmas for the Fiestas in Honour of Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de La Pe\u00f1a, which take place from 17 to 20 September.<\/p>\n
The main impact will be felt between the Valle de Santa In\u00e9s roundabout and Vega de R\u00edo Palmas, where traffic will be cut off from 6.00pm on Friday 18 September until 3.00am on Saturday 19, although the timing may be adjusted for safety reasons. Access to the Vega via P\u00e1jara will remain open.<\/p>\n
Traffic restrictions will also be in place in the Vega de R\u00edo Palmas area from 3.00pm on Thursday 17 until 4.00pm on Sunday 20 September, with a diversion set up along a specially prepared track through the ravine.<\/p>\n
These measures form part of the special operation put in place for the Fiestas in Honour of Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de La Pe\u00f1a, coordinated at the Security Board meeting held last Friday, which was attended by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura’s Culture Councillor, Rayco Le\u00f3n; the mayor of Betancuria, Enrique Cerde\u00f1a; the island director of the State Administration, Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas de la Cruz; Betancuria Town Council (Ayuntamiento) councillor Jos\u00e9 Cerde\u00f1a; and the parish priest of Betancuria, Juan Antonio Artiles, among other island and municipal representatives.<\/p>\n
The Fuerteventura Fire Prevention, Fire-Fighting and Rescue Service (SPEIS), the Guardia Civil, Local Police, Fire Brigade, Civil Protection and the Emergency Support Unit of the Government of the Canary Islands were also represented.<\/p>\n
Cabildo de Fuerteventura is advising residents and visitors to plan their journeys in advance, follow the instructions of the security services, and make use of public transport, which will run special services throughout the celebrations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
