The town has now recorded five consecutive months of historic growth, reaching unprecedented figures and consolidating a real shift in residents&#8217; travel habits.<\/p>\n<p>Sustained growth marks a turning point<\/p>\n<p>After a brief dip in demand in February (13,629 journeys), the service began an upward trend that has continued steadily ever since:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>March: 15,452 journeys<\/li>\n<li>April: 17,498<\/li>\n<li>May: 19,567<\/li>\n<li>June: 24,163<\/li>\n<li>July: 25,672<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Mayor David de Vera<\/strong> said that \u201cthe Ayuntamiento is working to ensure public transport improves every day: strengthening services, applying new technologies to optimise resources, and offering residents a broad, efficient and environmentally friendly mobility service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Councillor for Transport, Luis Chac\u00f3n,<\/strong> highlighted that \u201cfor the first time, Puerto del Rosario has surpassed 25,000 journeys a month, leaving behind the previous historic high of 17,000 and recording a cumulative increase of more than 12,000 passengers since March.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Improvements driving a faster, more accessible and reliable service<\/p>\n<p>The growth of urban transport reflects the system&#8217;s continuous improvement. Buses are now operating at commercial speeds of 18\u201319 km\/h, well above the usual figures for urban transport (12\u201314 km\/h), thanks to a more agile, accessible and well-organised operation.<\/p>\n<p>Among the key improvements are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Average waiting times of between 8 and 12 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Real-time information at digital bus shelters<\/li>\n<li>Accessible vehicles and adapted bus stops<\/li>\n<li>Stable frequencies and better coordination between routes<\/li>\n<li>Operational adjustments to avoid overlaps and improve pick-up capacity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These measures are consolidating a more efficient and comfortable system, one that is increasingly being chosen by local residents.<\/p>\n<p>Public transport: the infrastructure behind the cities of the future<\/p>\n<p><strong>European Mobility Week is also an opportunity to highlight the essential role public transport plays in building more sustainable and liveable cities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From a technical standpoint, a single bus can carry the equivalent of around 70 cars, taking up less space, generating fewer emissions and freeing up road capacity. It is a mode of transport that allows thousands of people to travel with dignity, accessibility and safety.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of efficiency, public transport is ten times\u2014or even more\u2014effective than the traditional model based on private cars.
