Proclamation in Las Salinas by the Herrera Domínguez family When the Fiestas music came from a cassette in an open car
– Children’s Party Sunday, week of workshops, contest and musical performances.
– The next weekend, the great fireworks display at midnight, interrupting for a moment the Verbena with the groups Kandela, Pachanga and the Estrella Latina Orchestra.
Las Salinas began its Fiestas in Honor of Nuestra Señora del Carmen with a family Proclamation by the Herrera Domínguez brothers who recalled how the first official Fiesta in this coastal town was the result of the initiative of two neighbors who managed to reach the Antigua Town Hall, bringing back their support and the performance of Los Idolos, on a stage that could not withstand a test jump and had to be patched.
For the family one hundred pesetas were put for the popular barbecue and the ambient music came from the cassette at full volume in a car with the windows down, the criers recalled before an audience that greeted and applauded them, encouraging them to continue at times when emotion drowned the words.
The mayor, Matias Peña Garcia welcomed these festivities highlighting the work of the Festival Committee with Guillermo Perez Gutierrez as spokesman and representative of the neighbors involved in organizing and offering, along with the Department of Festivities led by Pedro M. Armas, a full program in which musical performances until the body endures are the norm, along with fishing contests, dessert, craft workshops or children’s parties like the one offered this Sunday from 12:00 until the afternoon.
Among the most popular and well-known performances in these celebrations, that of Paco Salinas, who received from the hands of the town criers a plaque of appreciation for so many years as part of these festivities.
The musical performances are not missing almost every night, says Councilman Armas, who recalls that after the concerts of Aleo, Mejor con Copas and Banda del Cuco on Friday night, the Verbena will arrive on Saturday with the groups Kandela, Pachanga and the Estrella Latrina Orchestra, which will only interrupt the music to witness the aquatic-terrestrial pyrotechnic display at midnight.
