The municipality organizes a week full of literary activities for all ages
The City Council of Tuineje, from the Department of Culture led by Dulce Garcia, has organized a varied program to commemorate World Book Day, to be held next April 23, 2025, with activities ranging from contests, storytelling and literary fairs, to tributes to local writers and readers. The initiatives will take place mainly in Gran Tarajal, but will also be extended to other cultural centers of the municipality in the following days.

Among the outstanding events is the fourth edition of Efimares, an original contest of micro-stories written on the sand of the beach of Gran Tarajal, whose theme will be “the sea breeze”. The winning stories will be displayed on a wall in the municipality. There will also be storytelling by the renowned storyteller Javier Bolea, a book fair with stands of local authors, and puppet shows and dance.
The Councilor for Culture, Dulce García, said that “we have worked on a program that seeks to bring literature in a creative, fun and participatory way, encouraging reading from an early age and highlighting local talent”.
For her part, the mayor of Tuineje, Candelaria Umpiérrez, stressed that “the book remains an essential tool for building a critical and free citizenship. From the City Council, we are firmly committed to culture as an engine of social development”.
The activities will continue on April 28 and 29 and May 1 with storytelling sessions in the cultural centers of Tiscamanita, Tarajalejo and Tuineje, keeping the celebration of the book alive throughout the week.
