The City Council of Tuineje wants to publicly congratulate Bianca Scarpari, a resident of the municipality, for having been distinguished this year with the Insular Award of the Craft Fair of Fuerteventura, a well-deserved recognition for his career, dedication and contribution to the art of patchwork on the island.
Born and raised in Venice, Italy, Bianca discovered her passion for patchwork in 1995 when she attended, almost by chance, a course in this textile technique. From that first class, she fell deeply in love with this art form, which led her to develop an artistic career marked by continuous training, technical innovation and a constant dedication to her vocation.
In 1999 she was the promoter of the first Patchwork Congress of Veneto and the first Quilting Day, events that have grown to become a reference in Italy, celebrating their 26th edition this year. She was also a founding member of the Patchwork Cultural Association “Sala di Quiltatura” in Treviso, consolidating a vibrant artistic community around patchwork.
Bianca has participated in exhibitions and competitions in Italy and France, and has shared her knowledge by teaching classes at different levels. In 2006 she visited Fuerteventura for the first time and was captivated by the unique character of the island. A year later, she decided to settle permanently in our territory, attracted by its sea, its landscape and the warmth of its people.
Since 2008, she teaches courses in traditional and contemporary patchwork throughout the island, while continuing to create works that have been presented in numerous exhibitions and fairs. In 2010 she obtained the card of Craftswoman of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura as a maker of almazuelas, consolidating her work within the craft scene of the Canary Islands.
The Municipality of Tuineje is proud to have neighbors like Bianca Scarpari, whose talent and effort contribute to the cultural and artistic enrichment of our municipality. Her story is an example of how passion, art and rootedness to a land can come together in an inspiring trajectory.
