The program includes talks, storytelling and a micro-story contest on the beach.
The Department of Culture of the City Council of Tuineje has organized a series of events to commemorate World Book Day, with activities that combine the promotion of reading, creative expression and historical knowledge in different areas of the municipality.
The program starts on Tuesday, April 22, at 8:00 pm, at the House of Culture of Gran Tarajal with the talk-presentation “Winter, four hoaxes and a truth”, by the author Luis Abaroa Baroa. During the event three volumes of his work on Gustav Winter will be presented, addressing different stages of the life of the enigmatic character linked to the history of Fuerteventura. A unique opportunity to delve into the myths and realities surrounding his figure.
On Wednesday, April 23, from 10:00 to 13:00 hours, the beach of Gran Tarajal will host the fourth edition of Efimares, an original ephemeral contest of micro-stories written in the wet sand. With the sea breeze as the main theme, participants -in children and adult categories- will write texts of at least 50 characters. The two winning stories will be immortalized on a wall of the municipality. Registration will take place on the beach itself on the day of the event.
In addition, at 12:00 noon at Tran Tran Square, storyteller Javier Bolea will present “Once upon a time there was a time”, a session dedicated to children and families, encouraging imagination and love for traditional stories.
The Councilor for Culture, Dulce García, stressed that “from the area of Culture we want to celebrate Book Day with accessible proposals that connect with the community and encourage creativity in open spaces. We want literature to be experienced in the street, on the beach, between generations and in contact with our environment”.
For her part, the mayor of Tuineje, Candelaria Umpiérrez, said that “these activities are a sign of the commitment of this government group with culture as a tool for social cohesion, education and development. We invite neighbors and visitors to join and enjoy this program that values our heritage, both natural and cultural”.
The City Council of Tuineje encourages all citizens to actively participate in these days that celebrate the power of the word and collective creativity.
