The City Council of Tuineje, through its government team and in coordination with the organization of the funfair installed in the village of Gran Tarajal during Easter, wants to inform the public about recent comments related to dumping in the area of the marshes.
First of all, the municipal corporation clarifies that at no time there have been discharges of sewage. What was detected was the occasional discharge of gray water -from sinks or showers- by some caravaners linked to the fair. As soon as the incident became known, diligent action was taken to remedy the situation and the necessary measures were taken to prevent a recurrence of this type of incident.
The Councilor for the Environment, Evelyn Ávila, wanted to emphasize that “the protection of the natural environment of Tuineje is an absolute priority. From the first moment corrective measures were adopted and surveillance in the area has been reinforced to ensure that all environmental regulations are complied with. We are committed to a responsible coexistence between leisure and sustainability”.
For her part, the mayor of Tuineje, Candelaria Umpiérrez, regretted the inconvenience that this situation may have caused and assured that “we will continue to act firmly whenever the environment is compromised. At the same time, we defend proposals such as the funfair, designed as a healthy and family leisure alternative for those who decide to enjoy these holidays without leaving the island”.
The City Council is grateful for the understanding and collaboration of all citizens and reiterates its firm commitment to the protection of the environment, as well as the promotion of a safe, fun and respectful Easter Week with all the public and natural spaces of the municipality.
