This year’s Insular Handicrafts Award goes to the artisan of almazuelas Bianca Scarpari.
– The Island Craft Fair Fuerteventura 2025 to be held in the center of Antigua, squares and streets, begins next Thursday 1 to Sunday May 4.
The most distinguished prize awarded by the Insular Crafts Fair will be given this year to the artisan in the craft of the almazuelas, Bianca Scarpari, elected Insular Crafts Award 2025, whose distinction will receive from the hands of the mayor of Antigua, Matías Peña and the president of the Mafasca Collective Foundation, Nereida Brito, during the celebration of the thirty-sixth edition.
Antigua, its main square and streets, again host the most important event of crafts in Fuerteventura, and this time it will be an honor to present the Insular Crafts Award to Bianca Scarpari, whose humility and personal simplicity contrasts with the sharpness of his stitch and bold designs, says the mayor, Matias Peña.
The artisan, Venetian by origin, Bianca Scarpari, chose Fuerteventura twenty years ago as her home and inspiration for designs created from the union of pieces of fabric joined together in the traditional craft of the frames.
Since she established her stay in Fuerteventura she has not missed her appointment as a craftswoman in the Insular Crafts Fair offering original designs of bedspreads, tapestries, blankets, tablecloths woven with almazuelas and resulting in a work of quality, colorful and elegant.
The XXXVI Island Craft Fair Fuerteventura 2025 is held from Thursday 1 to Sunday May 4, bringing together nearly 200 artisans from the Canary Islands, all craftsmen and craftswomen, presenting their best and most excellent work made of leather, clay, embroidered with thread, silk or wool, carved wood or designed in glass or silver.
