The City Council of La Oliva, through the Department of Contracting, led by Juan José Rodríguez, approved in plenary session the beginning of the resolution of the lifeguard contract and takes a step forward in the bidding process for a new Lifeguard contract. After the repeated sanctions carried out by the government group for breach of the current contract, the Administration moves forward in the process that will achieve greater security for the coasts of the municipality.
The mayor of La Oliva, Isaí Blanco, highlights the need to improve the rescue service: “From the City Council we are aware of the situation in which the service is and has been sanctioned accordingly to the Red Cross for breach of contract on several occasions. Consequently, the current contract will be terminated. Even so, during the procedure in which it is passed to a new tender, the company continues with the obligation to continue with the service until there is a new awardee.”
For his part, the Councillor for Contracting, Juan José Rodríguez: “This time the goal will be to put some conditions to the company awarded, including one relating to wages so that the work of lifeguards is adjusted to a work poorly valued despite the importance and risk it has. Even so, although the Red Cross salaries are marked by their state professional agreement and not from the Administration, from the Department will try to alleviate this situation and require the company a salary commensurate with the work.”
This action responds to the commitment of the local government to offer a quality service that guarantees the safety of citizens on the coasts of La Oliva.
