The Naval Commander in Fuerteventura presents to the Mayor the Navy’s preventive campaign against the encounter of explosive devices.
– Antigua and the Naval Command will collaborate in the dissemination of the Preventive Campaign on how to act when a possible explosive device is found.
– Never move or handle a possible explosive device found on the seabed or seashore, give notice and specialized Navy teams will act on site within 24 hours.
The Mayor of Antigua, Matías Peña García, received this Monday morning, July 14, the visit of the Commander of the Naval Auxiliary in Fuerteventura, José Carlos Pastor Giménez, presenting the informative and preventive campaign that they develop in all the islands and municipalities, on the safety precautions to be taken in case of finding unexploded explosive devices in the seabed.
Antigua has always shown its full collaboration with the Naval Command in coordinated events, such as the organization of drills or, as in this case, to collaborate in disseminating a Preventive Campaign on how to face this specific risk situation, said the mayor, who thanked the Commander for his visit.
You can always count on the Municipality of Antigua to collaborate or facilitate events and campaigns such as the one we have been developing with simple and direct information on how to proceed in case of finding an explosive device, says Commander Pastor Giménez.
The information leaflets detail the cylindrical or spherical shape or the green, gray or black color that an explosive device may have, which should never be handled and before which it is best to turn off any electrical device, the most effective action being to beacon without contact, move away and give notice, whether found on a beach or seabed, with the Navy’s specialized teams arriving in less than 24 hours.
